ASSIGNMENT: Census Tract Analysis

Description

In this project, students conduct detailed demographic research on the neighborhood in which they live. They begin this research by looking into recent census records for their communities. After compiling this information, they do some “field work” by driving or walking around their neighborhood. They then combine the demographic data with their personal observations in a written report. The essay should detail the neighborhood’s terrain, land use, and demography of the student’s census tract. (The resources needed for this assignment, as written by this teacher, include: access to the Census Bureau Factfinder Page at census.gov.)
